SIA New Member Profile: IPTECHVIEW

New Security Industry Association (SIA) member IPTECHVIEW offers a simple, proactive cloud video surveillance, Internet of Things (IoT) and infrastructure platform with central management. The company is headquartered in Dallas, Texas, sells nationwide across the Americas and has an international sales and support team in Canada, Europe, Africa and the Middle East.

SIA spoke with Robert Messer, founder of IPTECHVIEW, about the company’s history and offerings, the security industry and working with SIA.

TELL US THE STORY OF YOUR COMPANY

Robert Messer: IPTECHVIEW is the offspring of ABPTECH, a specialty distributor with 20+ years of experience selling and supporting a wide range of IP technology solutions such as IP phones, networking infrastructure, cameras and IP-based access control.

We saw the need for a platform that converged technologies. We wanted to offer a video surveillance solution that would be simpler to use for customers and would also provide integrators with a tool to remotely and securely access and monitor the health of everything they sold and allow for remote management. So over the last seven years, we built IPTECHVIEW as a tool to integrate everything under one platform, make everything interact and shorten the learning curve for all. With IPTECHVIEW, partners earn recurring revenue for selling the cloud surveillance, infrastructure and multibrand cameras – plus they can get recurring revenue for their own service performing the remote support of everything.

The trend of equipment prices and margins coming down while labor goes up has been a constant. Our partner-centric video surveillance as a service (VSaaS) lets integrators make recurring revenue with the cloud service and enables them to provide remote services for everything IP technology.

WHAT IS SOMETHING WE MIGHT NOT KNOW ABOUT YOUR COMPANY - OR SOMETHING NEW YOU ARE DOING IN SECURITY?

RM: We offer AlarmReady, a universal alarm system integration that provides instant video verification for all our cloud surveillance customers.

WHAT IS YOUR COMPANY'S VISION, AND WHAT ARE YOUR GOALS FOR THE SECURITY INDUSTRY?

RM: We want to earn the trust of our integrator partners to become their cloud surveillance of choice. We believe we are the most partner-centric VSaaS solution and provide the best toolbox and the best business model.

WHAT DO YOU THINK ARE THE BIGGEST OPPORTUNITIES IN THE SECURITY INDUSTRY RIGHT NOW?

RM: The hybrid workforce has changed everything. For us, video now is more than security cameras. It’s situational awareness of what goes on at work for team members working from home. It’s workflow optimization, quality control, learning and education in addition to protecting and securing the people and the space.

WHAT ARE YOUR PREDICTIONS FOR THE SECURITY INDUSTRY IN THE SHORT AND LONG TERM?

RM: We feel that security camera video will be democratized and access to video will become available for anyone that has a legitimate need for access.

WHAT ARE THE BIGGEST CHALLENGES FACING YOUR COMPANY AND/OR OTHERS IN THE SECURITY INDUSTRY?

RM: Our biggest challenge is changing the status quo. In surveillance, we are still in a phase where many people believe it’s best to have their own system versus going to the cloud. It has not become mainstream thinking that cloud software is more advanced, costs less to maintain, and is actually safer. On-premises video and in-house computers are inherently less safe than a commercial cloud platform designed for security that is overseen by a professional team.

WHAT DOES SIA OFFER THAT IS MOST IMPORTANT TO YOU AND YOUR COMPANY? AND WHAT DO YOU MOST HOPE TO GET OUT OF MEMBERSHIP?

RM: We are excited about SIA as a channel to reach new partners and spread the word of IPTECHVIEW.
